5 Wonderful Scent-tastic Reasons To Embrace Aromatherapy

Does the word aromatherapy make you instantly think of some frou-frou over-the-top spa or overzealous hippie granola type?

You might actually be a little right, but it still might be worth giving aromatherapy a deeper look instead of rolling your eyes and walking away as quickly as possible.

It’s so easy and socially acceptable to reach for less than desirable, negative things to soothe us when we feel stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed in life.

However, aromatherapy might actually prove valuable to helping maintain a calmer, more pleasant disposition and improve how you experience your home and life.

You don’t have to take my word for it. Using aromatherapy might not be your cup of tea. And that is fine.

I’m simply writing this post to explore some excellent reasons you might want to give aromatherapy a chance, nothing more.

1. Freshen Up Your Air

If you’re not the biggest fan of constantly purchasing cans of air freshener or forget to change your plug-in, you’re in luck.

You can use the power of aromatic herbs and floral scents to make a fresh smelling atmosphere.

Think about the possibilities, such as making your own fragrance spray with an atomizer or burning incense.

Or you can keep sachets around or potpourri to make your home or personal space smell fantastic.

Choose different herbs and florals for specific benefits or signature fragrance as you see fit.

2. Induce Calm & Relaxation

Use aromatherapy to help you achieve a state of calm or relaxation in less than an hour. It doesn’t hurt to take focus on taking deep, slow breaths and being more mindful about how you wish to feel.

Consider using chamomile, lavender, eucalyptus, or rose. Other noses may respond better to earthy musky scents like sandalwood, cedar, or juniper.

3. Mood Booster & Uplifter

Feeling less than enthused or energized?

Why not try using uplifting scents like cinnamon, mint (peppermint), or lemon balm to help you get back in the game.

Of course, specific scents may make you feel more excited or energized than others. Do try a variety of different aromatherapeutic florals and herbs to see what’s the right mix for you.

4. Create The Ideal Vibe

Don’t cover up foul odors, keep a clean house and then use an aromatherapy oil lamp, scent sticks, candles, or dried or fresh crushed herbs and floral to infuse your space.

Have fun choosing specific aromatherapy scents when company comes over for dinner, you need an in-house spa day, or you want to create a cozier vibe at home.

5. Enhance Food & Beverages

Food is not solely about nutrition.

We also eat with our eyes, nose, and other senses before diving into an appetizer or full course meal.

So, it goes without saying that certain aromatherapeutic herbs and flowers make fantastic additions for garnishes, alcoholic beverages, and signature dishes.

Don’t forget about edible flower as well to add color, beauty, and flavorful texture!

Before You Go

Aromatherapy has perhaps caught a bad rep as being too woo-woo and overly fantastic to be of any use. After all, there are plenty of scent-focused products that are available on the market that are cheap, plentiful, and heavily advertised.

However, aromatherapy may prove to have some benefit to your life if you give it a chance. Take time out to pause and breathe in natural and pleasant-smelling herbs and florals for a more peaceful moment.

* Aromatherapy is not a cure for any health ailment and does not promise to be a cure-all for any temporary or persistent health problems. Please do your research and consult a medical provider, in case of possible adverse reactions.

Do not put non-topical aromatherapy herbs or florals onto your skin or misuse products by not following any directions attached. Please stop use of any aromatherapy products if you develop any unwanted reactions.
